The home automation line consists of "controllers" that instantly or automatically send signals over existing AC wiring to receiver "modules," that in turn control lights, appliances, heating, air conditioning units, etc. The controllers range from plug-in tabletop controllers to wireless remotes to a controller that interfaces to personal computers and incorporates two-way transmission of power line signals. Today, X10 Ltd. and its various subsidiaries employ more people in the design, development, manufacture, and marketing of home automation products than any other company in the world.
